Naruto ran from 1999 until 2014 in the Weekly Shounen Jump, the most popular manga magazine in Japan. The series is about a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki, whose body has been used to seal away the spirit of a powerful fox-demon named Nine-Tails. Feared by many people in his home town, Konoha, Naruto must learn to control the incredible power of the demon fox and fight off various super-powered villains who seek to destroy his village. Naruto’s dream is to become the Hokage, or village leader, and win the respect of his peers.
The series took off internationally and was soon adapted for TV. The first half of the resulting anime series aired as Naruto, and the second part of the series was broadcast under the title Naruto: Shippuden (Hurricane Chronicles). After the original manga ended, a new series was launched – Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Boruto focuses on the children of the main characters from the original series.
